My First Wild Koala

A couple of weeks ago Damien and I took a drive up to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. It is about 90 minutes north of Brisbane. The weather was beautiful and we stopped off at one of the many beaches in the area to have a walk. It took more concentration than normal to walk along this beach because it was literally covered with small blue jelly fish. Damien accidentally stepped on a couple and they just popped. Nothing happend to him. He figured that if they were any real threat that the beach would be closed.

We decided to follow a hiking train that took us up a large hill and around some cliffs down to a more rugged and secluded beach. We found out pretty quickly that it was a nudist beach. There were men and women all up and down the beach letting it all hang out. Very interesting. I decided not to take any pictures of the bathers but here is a picture of the beach.

Later, we went hiking in a part of Noosa National Park. It was stunningly beautiful and we choose to walk along a path with a lot of eucalypt trees in hopes of spotting a wild koala. There was no one else on the trail and after about 10 minutes I looked up and about 20 feet above my head in a tree right on the path but a big cute koala!!! He was awake and very interested in us. I couldn't stop taking pictures and just starring at him. Amazing that this was not the zoo and there was no one else around. Magical! It was a great day and I would love to go back and do some more hiking.
