Flying Out!
Damien and I are moving back to Japan on March 12th! We are very excited to be going back there. This time we will be living in a smallish town called Kani City (population a little over 100,000). It is about an hour northeast of Japan's 4th largest city, Nagoya. We went through Nagoya on the train but just saw it through the window. It is closer to Osaka and Kyoto than to Tokyo, so we will have much more opportunity to explore those areas. Kani City lies at the foothills of the Japan alps. There are several famous mountain towns within and hour and plenty of onsen!!
We will be working for a school owned by an Australian and it will be just Damien and I and another couple who is from South Africa as permanent teachers there. Our apartment will be a short walk from the school and it has an extra bedroom. One thing that will be different this time is that we will have to drive sometimes, esp. Damien as he will be working at some offsite kindergartens. I am a bit nervous about that!
Before we leave for Japan, we are taking a short trip to New York and Washington DC. I will be sure and post about that and put up some pictures. I have also posted a lot more pictures of the dinners we have been preparing (since I am not working I have a lot of time to cook and experiment!). We are hoping to do some documentation of eating experiences in Japan with photos, explanations, advice and anecdotes. We should be posting that stuff here regularly.
