In From Down Under

Well, Damien's mom has arrived from Australia! She had quite a long flight. I think all told it was more than 24 hours of traveling. Yikes! But she is here safe and sound. We took her to Michela farm in Southern Indiana yesterday to see sheep being shorn. Also, so she could see the place where we spread my brother Hadley's ashes. She is quite fascinated with the different accents found here in Indy and Damien took her on a bus ride which was quite entertaining. She brought a bunch of photos of Damien when he was younger and some of them were SHOCKING! Maybe I will try to post some!

My job is very very busy now as we are getting ready for a huge Gala this week. There will be many important Japanese and Indiana business leaders there and there is still a lot to do for our office before the event. It is a whole new world for me but I am really enjoying it. Damien has been volunteering with us and actually designed the program book that all the guests will get at the Gala dinner. If anyone wants to see the website of my office it's www. japanindiana.org It isn't the best website but my picture and short bio are on there under "About Us" and then "Staff".

We have bought tickets to San Francisco in August to see my best friend Heather's wedding and spend a couple nights in San Fran. We are very excited about that. And in 12 days I will no longer be Ana Roof, I will be Ana Zekants! (my business cards already say it) I am so excited and happy to be getting married to such a wonderful guy. We are very lucky to have found each other.

Well, I don't have much else to report right now but I will write again after our trip to Chicago, the Gala dinner at my work, and our wedding/reception.
PS-I posted a few pictures on my Yahoo site under "Indiana".

Wedding Bells!

Well, I guess I have some big news! Some of y0u may already know this...I am getting married!!! Damien and I will tie the knot on May 12th, this year. I guess the romance of Europe finally caught up with us. It won't be a big ceremony. Actually, we are just going to the courthouse downtown Indy and only our family will be there. Damien's mom is coming from Australia!!! Also, I am really enjoying my job. I am involved with some interesting community events involving Japanese companies and I am getting to meet a lot of Japanese people who live in Indianapolis. Damien is volunteering at my office which is nice. We are also helping my mom to paint and re-do her kitchen. So, life is busy and exciting I guess! The weather is too! We have had lots of storms and tornados recently. There is a tornado warning right now actually. But the weather doesn't look that bad out the window! Not much else right now, just looking forward to spring, my 32nd birthday, getting married and Damien's mom visiting. I still miss Japan every day though, and wish I was back in Hiratsuka! Actually, my co-worker went to University in Fujisawa which is the city where I worked!!! Anyway, just wanted to tell everyone that in less than a month I will be Ana Zekants!!!!!!
