The Deed is Done!

I am now Mrs. Damien Zekants! We got married on Friday May 12, 2006 in the county clerks office in Indianapolis, Indiana. I wore my Japanese yukata and Damien wore a suit. My parents, my brother Josh, his wife Annie and their kids and Damien's mom were present. It all went pretty fast and I think the parents were more nervous than us! After the short ceremony we went to have lunch. The weather was complete crap, very cold and rainy. But my neighbor told me that it is good luck if it rains on your wedding day! We were told the day before by our mothers that they were going to give us some money to go out to dinner on our wedding evening. We had some suspicions that they were up to something! We choose to go to the best sushi place in the city and boy did it live up to its reputation! Some of the best raw octopus we had ever had. When we got home we found candles burning in a path to our room. We followed the candles and a trail of rose petals to a beautiful "honeymoon suite" complete with bottles of wine, chocolates, new floor pillows, nice pajamas and a mosquito net over the bed. So, our mom's had transformed the basement of my mom's house into something very romantic for our first night as a married couple. It was a great surprise!!

The next day was pretty hectic getting everything ready for our reception. We rented out an old historic home in my neighborhood for the party and catered it ourselves. My brother and his wife did an incredible job of preparing the food and keeping it stocked during the evening. We couldn't have done it without them! It was a great evening with lots of friends and family and it was the first time many of them had met Damien. My cousins from Boston and my aunt and cousins from Ohio came who I hadn't seen in ages. And my bestest friend Heather and her fiance Jeremy were in charge of video taping everything.

Tonight we went to the nicest steak restaurant in Indy. It was really good. I am starting to get a bit sad thinking that Damien's mom, Sue, has to leave on Wednesday. We have enjoyed her visit so much! She and my mom and dad have gotten on so well you would have thought they had know each other for years! So, I guess things will start to settle down a bit next week but there are still alot of things planned this summer like a trip to San Francisco, a honeymoon on the Ohio river, camping and getting Damien a greencard! Damien and I are so very happy and are looking forward to all the wonderful things the future has in store!

Mrs. Ana Zekants,
I am very happy for you two. It looks like you had a great time and the reception was in a beautiful spot. I considered having our reception there. You looked beautiful. I'd like to meet Damien and introduce you to my wife Emily, and my son, Avery. Let me know if you would care to get together sometime. Best wishes in your new life together as husband and wife.
